WHAT IS HOLISTIC

TREE MANAGEMENT?

Picture a tree. A tree, like a human, is alive.

While we all know this, but we might not stop to consider what it implies.

A human being, for example, has needs that must be addressed in order for them to truly thrive.

When a human becomes ill, they will seek medical care and be prescribed medication. Their healthcare practitioner will also encourage them to get enough rest, hydrate, and eat well. If they are chronically ill, they will be advised to bolster their immunity and take precautions to manage stress and other factors that might be compromising their health.

This way of treating disease is usually much more effective than using medication alone. It sees a person as a whole system and aims to support that system for the sake of their sustained vitality and well-being.

Holistic tree care operates on these same principles. In addition to directly addressing an illness, holistic tree management also aims to support and boost the immunity of the tree so it may thrive and be resilient in the face of future health challenges or drastic environmental change. It does this by applying specialised treatments to three key zones of the tree – the canopy and trunk above the ground, and the root zone below the ground.

Canopy treatments include foliar feeding, natural pest control, and the addition of beneficial microbes.

Trunk treatment includes the application of specialised tree paste as well as liposomal nanotechnology.

Treatment of the root zone includes nutrient feeding, the addition of bio-stimulants and beneficial microbes, and cover cropping and/or mulch application.

In combination, these applications not only directly address tree illnesses, they provide means for the tree to more optimally meet its needs.

The result is a tree with increased vitality which is uplifted through regular maintenance and is visibly happier, healthier, and more resilient to resist and cope with  future pests and other disease-causing organisms.
